Opportunity Lost: how successive government policies disadvantaged young Australians
Each
year, we put a call into the minister responsible for money-laundering,
reports Michael West. Each year, we get the same answer. Besides,
franking credits, negative gearing, the gig economy, IR and
superannuation settings, even Federal money-laundering policy has been
skewed in favour of older, wealthier Australians vis-a-vis the younger
and poorer
Old Dog Thought
Old Dog Thought
It's the weekend for media clerk and 'work to rule" opinionator Andrew Bolt whois the centrefold for the "banality of evil" . Thursday nights he sheds his suit and tie gets out from behind his prop desk and scurries off to his safe and socially distant place in the dark. He's just one of a myriad of the opinionators in Murdoch media global stable that has created and shone a light on the 'banality of evil' and made it the centre of our modern cultural atmosphere. They have disembowelled Australia of its empathy and once again normalised hate and division this century so much so the image of Australia the once welcoming nation has been changed and damaged for a very long time. Lebanese Muslims Africans and Chinese aren't welcome. However, those they say are simply aren't interested in coming. This pandemic may have changed that. Merit plays second fiddle to inherited wealth and power and prisons and slavery have been on the up. While Corporations have been sprung for wage theft little or nothing has been done about it.
How did this happen and happen so quickly? Quite simply the control and ownership of communication was a primary factor. Owning and organizing it even if it's making a loss as are News Corp and Ch9 it provides them power if not profit. Their value is in their digital real estate holdings but their power is in their influence. The medium is the message and the message is to banalise evil. Simply normalising the worst of what we do to each other and Andrew Bolt is the perfect Adolf Eichman the bureaucrat 'just doing his job'.
Individuals might have great ideas but unless they can be communicated and sheared they languish and fade away. But if one has access to communicating even the worst of ideas they can flourish in the hands of even the least charismatic of characters. Andrew Bolt, Gerard Henderson, Rita Panahi etc exemplify just those very dullard traits their banal " actions are motivated by a sort of stupidity which is wholly unexceptional" and very robotic repetitive and clerical in nature.
