We’re not going to surrender to it like Joe Biden would surrender,” deliberately leaving open the interpretation that the relevant “surrender” was getting sick and dying. The president retweeted columnist Miranda Devine’s characterisation of him as an “invincible hero, who not only survived every dirty trick the Democrats threw at him, but the Chinese virus as well”.

TODAY'S INFECTIONS: 11. DANIEL ANDREWS FACES MUTINY

Melbourne has been in a stage-4 lockdown for more than nine weeks. The Victorian Government says it will lift that lockdown on October 19 - if there's an average of just five new daily infections in the previous 14 days. Bad news: that's starting to look  unlikely, given today's numbers. But if the bans aren't lifted, I predict open revolt.   

 Bolt's "I predict" sounds like a Trump promise but no it's a Bolt prediction or Schadenfreude hope that the recommended by Virologists and immunologists won't be met. If it's not we will never hear the end of it. If it is it will be entirely forgotten like a Trump promise. 

Nevertheless like the China virus Bolt will go on calling this the Dan Andrews blunder. In the meantime Bolt isn't paying any attention to the spread of the virus in the Republican States of the USA a spread resembling the wildfires in California which is devastating their economies much worse than ours.

His Company hero Trump in the meantime is calling his catching of Covid a "gift from god" something else Bolt is leaving very much alone. Trump is a Nero figure drugged up  ranting away outside a deleted White House.

SAD JAMES PACKER AND THE CURSE OF SUPER-WEALTH

COLUMN Billionaire James Packer spoke to a casino inquiry this week from his 354-foot superyacht, cruising in the Pacific. Symbolically unmoored. And anyone watching him — so halting, so puffy, so humbled, and so, so sad — would say he’s welcome to it all. The billions. The boat. The luxury life on the open sea and the seeming freedom from everything.  

Note the Trump like empathy in Bolt's comment on James. A sign of who Andrew Bolt is more than James Packer who has admitted to being bipolar. What's strange Andrew Bolt isn't ready to shoot from the hip about James as he was about a 15-year-old girl with Asperger's.

CORONAVIRUS BANS: JUMP IN SUICIDE OF BOYS

I didn't believe earlier claims that there were no more suicides this year than last. Now: "As many Victorian boys have taken their own lives in just nine months in 2020, as did over whole years before the COVID-19 pandemic. A new Coroner’s Court report reveals 13 males under 18 suicided before September 30 this year."

"Over whole years before the virus" The obvious question being and one assumes there were "suicide notes in some cases and personal information in each case I suspect Bolt's leap to have the "virus" explain the difference  is a long bow and he and only the Murdoch press are firing it.  

NO-BANS SWEDEN HAS SEES ECONOMY HURT LESS THAN AUSTRALIA

Remember being told Sweden was reckless, refusing to go into lockdown? True, its death rate was higher than ours, having let the virus get into aged care homes. But its challenge was very much bigger, being connected to Europe. But now look. Australia's GDP this year will fall 3.75 per cent, Sweden's 3.3.

Don't know where Bolt is getting his figures from but a report on comparing economies of Denmark, Norway and Sweden had the the economy falling over 8% with the danish deaths 200 Norway's 600 and Sweden's 6000. What's significant in Bolt's post is saying "true the death rate was higher" but not actually putting a figure of the 5000  more deaths. Further that currently Sweden is experiencing a 2nd wave and contemplating a "lockdown" So so much Blot avoids telling.

TRUST TRUMP MORE THAN A VACCINE TO SAVE US

COLUMN The Morrison Government has bet its Budget on us getting a vaccine next year. It should bet instead on being more like Donald Trump. Listen to the US President roar as he was released early from hospital after treatment for a virus that could easily kill a fat man in his 70s. “Don’t let it dominate your lives,” he exhorted. And he's right. 

He looked made up. What he said sounded made up. He looked like Nero without but doing the fiddle. Meanwhile 7.5M Americans were suffering and 210 were dead and Trump was calling Covid a "gift from God" and Bolt is crying hallelujah
