Fighting Fake News with REAL 9/10/20; In Defence of the ABC; Mansplaining the Budget and Women;

 

 

  

This is one of the most singular reasons why this LNP Government need to be voted out. For the past 7 years they have consistently diminished Democracy in this country and fully intend to continue until our Public broadcaster is a shadow of itself. HERE'S WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED ABOUT THE ABC IN THE BUDGET

Despite billions of dollars of spending, and handouts for Morrison's corporate mates, the ABC has been left gutted...again.

The Coalition has continued to cut the ABC, with the 2020-21 budget “freeze” meaning they’ll lose $41 million this financial year.

The $783 million the Coalition has axed from the ABC’s budget is taking its toll, this government is responsible for an unprecedented attack on our national broadcaster.

The Morrison Government has set the ABC up for YEARS of decreased funding which means beloved ABC programs, services and jobs are on the line, and as we stare down the barrel of the next bushfire season our public broadcasters' emergency broadcast budget is close to drying up.

This year alone we’ve relied on our public broadcaster like never before to keep us safe and informed during bushfires and a global pandemic.

A strong, independent and fully funded ABC is a fundamental pillar of our democracy and we need to defend it together.

 The attacks on Australia’s public broadcaster by the government and News Corp are political, ideological and opportunistic 

 Attacks from News Corp papers, in particular from the Australian, are now so frequent that there can be no pretence the paper is running anything but a campaign. Where anti-ABC material once might have been found on the comment pages, now it seems to be reported as news, despite some stories having little news value.
