The arrest of a producer of YouTube journalist and comedian FriendlyJordies has disturbing implications for free speech and civil liberties. That a counter-terrorism unit would be sent in to arrest a government critic has eerie parallels to repressive regimes around the world, writes Michael Tanner.

Fake News and misinformation exposed Blog Post

Bruce Pascoe, right.

BRUCE PASCOE: END OF OUR BIGGEST LITERARY HOAX

Bruce Pascoe is the biggest literary hoax in Australia's history. This "Aboriginal historian" and his bizarre claim that Aborigines were actually farmers were treated as true by politicians, journalists, the ABC and arts bureaucracies. Conservatives warned for nearly two years he was a fake, and now  two Left-wing newspapers finally admit it.

Let's remind ourselves about the extent to which Andrew Bolt's IQ resembles a bag of bricks.

1) Firstly he claims Peter Costello ex-LNP Treasurer in the Howard government and the current head Ch9 is the leader of two "left-wing" media organisations  The SMH and The Age and that they agree with him.

2) That a critical review by academics Sutton and Walshe of Pascoe's book means that his work now has been cancelled. (Since August 2020, Pascoe has been Enterprise Professor in Indigenous Agriculture at the University of Melbourne.) and will continue to hold that position. Which indicates that Sutton and Walshe have been welcomed to the discourse and not ended it.

  3) That Sutton, Walshe and Pascoe all operate within the same discipline and field of study when they don't. However they all agree and from their differing perspectives disagree about the simplicity of current state of Indigenous history as presented to the Australian public today.

4)That they in anyway support Bolt's arguments that Australian history has already been written or that any change be deemed racist or replacement theory.  Bolt misusing their critique as a means of bolstering his misinformation to refute of Pascoe's theories about Indigenous Australian's past being misunderstood and it's complexities unappreciated. Bolt's like a KKK grand master clutching  straws to keep his arguments of black racism and replacement theories afloat.

5) Bolt has a habit of plucking obscure physicists, engineers and geologists out and lift them up to support his denials of climate change. It's his methodology of distraction and doubt.  He never really turns to evidenced based criticism or peer-reviewers, experts in the same field.

6) It simply shows he hasn't a clue between cause and correlation and how they are applicable to science and or the social sciences. Between theory, method, and data collection and their relationship to explanation. Yet in his ignorance he maintains he has the attention of the nation, is highly rated and respected.
