 You risk being labelled “fascist scum” if you happen to be of conservative ilk or simply opposed to communism or radical feminism. If you seek to express a view that doesn’t conform to that espoused by the revolutionary socialist groups on campus, then you are “racist”. Don’t support gay marriage? You’re “homophobic”. Not a fan of unisex toilets? “Transphobic”. Radical, self-obsessed students have initiated this massive smear campaign against any opponents and, in doing so they have significantly shifted the threshold, at least on campus, of these terms."

It doesn't sound as if free speech in danger at all if our pompous Leighton McDonald- Stuart has anything to say particularly as he's an editor on the student magazine. If he's correct we can expect to see all the professions and institutions in Adelaide being filled by leftist radicals of every hew. What chance has the Liberal Party got in Adelaide in fact in Australia with these red graduates let loose in SA. Bolt used to rant about just that. No honest graduates ever came out of universities because the the radical left were in control. It's as if he was determined not to have his kids minds polluted by sending them there.

Leighton it seems has paid no attention to Lomborg's professional record and is quite happy to see the academic standards drop in Adelaide for the sake of controversy and a government bribe. I don't know what it is he's studying but he'd certainly better learn the value of $$ before being allowed to run wild spending it. Imagine Andrew Bolt in a few years being made and honorary professor of climate science by appointed by Leighton. This is teaching attitudes, not history

Is Bolt trying show his wisdom or is he just stating the obvious that all history is relative. That history is a matter of perspective and needs to be seen through the eyes of the person telling it.  The "importance" Bolt attaches to what should or shouldn't be taught is inconsequential to the process of learning and understanding history. It's always been Bolt's misconception that there is one truth and training is learning when in fact they are significantly different processes. However one needs to pay attention to the fact that Bolt doesn't actually explain what it is he perceives history to be.  There is a hint however that his white man's version of aboriginal history is more accurate than any other. But that's Bolt who believes his knowledge is far more accurate than any other at all times. He rarely if ever apoligises for any errors.

Why on earth has Bolt distorted  a media article only to bring it to our attention that he needs to protect Tony Abbot's good name? He does it so badly, he raises the suspicion that Abbott was being homophobic. The confusion developed because the Australian ambassador to France resigned and it caused a huge flurry in diplomatic circles . Had this not occurred Hartcher's attention would not have been drawn to it. Hartcher begins with the  fact:

"Australia's ambassador to France offered his resignation after an incident while greeting Tony Abbott as he arrived in Paris on Anzac Day."

 Bolt refers to this as his source and in it there is no reference whatsoever to any suggestion of homophobia.   The reference Bolt makes then is to  an interview on 2GB and an accompanied wink. This can't be regarded as a source for this blog as there is  neither a transcript nor an  interviewer mentioned. All we have is Bolt's word for what and how something might or might not have been said in what context we don't know.

What we do know Bolt has taken advantage of it to raise himself yet again as some dragon slayer on behalf of Abbott where I suspect there were only dragons of his own making. Hartcher refers to the confusion  as an issue over protocol in his SMH article. 

What do we get from Bolt? He embellishes it to the nth degree takes it to Timbuktu and back drawing in names from here there and everywhere making out it's been the issue of the month only to wind up in the end where Hartchers article does. That  the issue was  a matter of protocol. Hartcher doesn't even elaborate on the resignation. But Don Quixote Bolt demands an apology about some homophobic smear that certainly isn't in print and at best is rumoured to have been heard on 2GB . In doing so he's made mention that Abbott is not homophobic some three times. The man does protest to much.
