What Bolt calls debate is abuse, personal disparagement and the repetitive use of facts which have been proven false. Sweeping generalizations gleaned from singular if not irrelevant events. The issue being Bolt does not debate he simply propagandizes and rarely brings anything new to the table on any issue.
When the police don't give figures or state who these sympathizers are what gives Bolt the right to falsely suggest 1) they are immigrants 2) they aren't Australians 3) that we as Australians can't sympatize with their actions.
Bolt calls for troops on the ground in Syria in order to do that there needs to be some understanding and sympathy for the rebel cause some of whom are deemed on any other day terrorists. The coalition armed terrorists that was and is sympathy in action. Turkey just sympathized with the Turkmen on it's borders deemed terrorists by Russia and took down a Russian plane. You can't have it every which way Bolt Sympathy isn't a crime vilification is. I have a very clear view of the error made allowing a Dutch family migrate here to see the damage their son does to the social fabric and cohesion in this country.

So where Bolt says there is "virtually no chance of a political settlement" he wants to ensure there isn't. Settlements have been seen to be made regularly among the rebels and with Turkey war is on going arrangements and not just attempts at final solutions. It seems any solution minimizing further deaths is far better than one guaranteeing more. But not according to general Bolt who directs his war from his kitchen table making sweeping generalizations that can't in fact be made. It's why we are abandoning Afghanistan because the sweeping generalizations of the past have always proved to be wrong and only resulted in people being sent home in body bags.

The Bankers are screwing Greece but still expect them to do something about "their" immigration and refugee problem. That something is never really defined by the EU other than stop them coming in. With so many islands to head for Bolt cries do it the Abbott way.
Maybe if those bankers realised that since 2004 they had been driving Greece into poverty and had noticed the Greek invasion of Europe. They may have come to the conclusion that that's what they have been doing in Africa all these years driving that continent deeper into poverty. However no longer a poverty of the poorest of the poor who can't flee but rather a poverty of the middle class who can and have the money. Those who are ready to take the risk of flight combined with a genuine fear for their lives.
Did Europe bother to notice the Greek invasion? It welcomed it as all the educated fled Greece for work. Has Europe noticed the number of educated professionals amongst this so called current invasion? Bolt's only attended to their religion and colour.
It's contradictory of the Abbott government isn't it not to look at the 1000 Iranians it's trying to ship back to Iran when we too have a shortage of professionals here. We are prepared to accept true illegals sneaking in on dodgy 457 Visas but not even look at the skills of legal asylum seekers many of them with genuine professional skills. There is no Aboriginal Culture we are all just individuals. It's just happens that some of us are destined for the bottom and are more dysfunctional because of what we believe. We make different "life style choices" Abbott called it. Unemployment, alcoholism poor health, domestic violence, diabetes, poverty, etc all existed before colonization and have been with the Aborigines before white man's arrival. No they haven't even that's too stupid an explanation for Bolt. But then Bolt World Climate Expert is also a World leading Social Anthropologist who for one doesn't believe in history and no First Peoples any longer exist. Aboriginal Culture is the root cause and explanation for their current day social ills.
The increasing poverty, alcoholism, and drug taking we see amongst the white population is also due to a combination of lack of moral fiber and dysfunctional socialization. However every society has a bottom rung and that's normal and we have to intervene. The problem is we over indulge them and kill tem with kindness. Some of this social detritus on welfare has resulted in a " life style choice" a welfare culture or Culture of Poverty that needs to be identified stopped and policed.
For Bolt there is no notion that this society in which we live produces or compels the level of social and psychological dysfunction among most of us. That the constant downward pressure on wages in the search for profit has resulted in the continuing widening of the income and wealth gap in capitalist societies. It's no more clearly seen than in the USA that has the greatest numbers of poor 40% and a shrinking middle class and yet still is regarded as one of the worlds most wealthiest countries. Bolt like all right wing ideologues blame it on the poverty of minority cultures and the increasing illegal immigration and personal inadequacy.
The fact is that there is as much legal and illegal drug taking, alcoholism and domestic violence in Toorak, Malvern, upper and middle classes of Australian Society as there is amongst the lower class and poor. The only difference being is the likelihood of being caught and visible. How on earth does Bolt believe the total value of drugs alcohol and legal pills imported into this country is consumed. Simply look at the growth in private rehab clinics and you might get some indication they are now everywhere. State run clinics barely exist.
Does Bolt believe domestic violence doesn't occur among the wealthy or middle class that domestic tensions aren't released by flights to Bali or the escapes to holiday homes to friends places with spare rooms all things the lower classes don't have access to and what brings them to the attention of police. Does Bolt actually believe that white collar crime doesn't exist on far larger scale than working class crime and is far more damaging that doing over a 7/11. It's quite easy to lie with statistics but much harder to see the total picture of the pressure on the whole of society and families in general. But then that's the Conservative way reminding us of the 1950's telling us all is well while pointing out and blaming the few for their problems. How Christian all will be forgiven if only you repent.
