Trump's tweeting turns a bad day into a disaster

During the tumultuous first three years of his presidency, Donald Trump has experienced some damaging days. This was up there with the worst.

As she was speaking, Trump jumped onto Twitter to lambast that witness - a move Democrats seized upon as a potential article of impeachment.

Then it was announced that one of the President's most longstanding allies, infamous "dirty trickster" Roger Stone, had been found guilty of multiple crimes and was headed to jail.

Her testimony delivered something more human: a compelling personal story of a career public servant and corruption fighter smeared and eventually thrown overboard by an American president and his allies.

Adam Schiff, the Democratic Chair of the House Intelligence Committee immediately grasped the tweet's potential as an article of impeachment.
"We take this kind of witness intimidation and obstruction of inquiry very seriously," he said.
 Even loyal Trump supporters said it was a bad look for the President to attack a witness while she was testifying.

A US counter-terrorism official says the country's "military assets" could be used to get to eight Australian IS fighters and more than 60 women and children in northern Syria, a dangerous region that has become even more volatile since Turkey's offensive last month.

COLUMN Feel like you’ve been played? Look at the apocalyptic headlines earlier this week about the fires in NSW. “Catastrophic fire danger”. “Worst bushfire conditions ever seen”. “Unprecedented”.  “As bad as it gets”.  And global warming alarmists like Greta Thunberg fed hungrily on the cataclysmic headlines. But at the end, what really happened?

First point Andrew Bolt jumps on those who make spelling mistakes suggesting they represent a lack of education and are therefore not really worth listening to. Yet Bolt regularly misspells himself.

Ask yourselves why Insurance Companies are "catastrophizing" along with banks and commercial lenders whose actuaries have reported "abnormal events". Not "normal events" that have not decreased fire and flood claims but increased them. Bolt doesn't mention complaining and telling them that extreme weather events are on the decline? He doesn't tell them all's well and normal, and there's nothing to worry about here. 

 No, his focus, like the tobacco companies, is on discrediting the science or at a minimum create doubt. Allowing politicians to do nothing. However if for a moment he accepted the "exceptional " nature of extreme whether he'd need to accept that the trend in record-breaking events is increasing with global warming and the possibility that the increasing emission of CO2 in the atmosphere is assisting that trend. Even the possibility of an indirect relationship would necessitate action like smoking and lung cancer, which resulted in the Quit campaign. We've seen the battle that that took and there's even a greater one going on with the cry to Quit fossil fuels or transition to alternatives. 

Per head of population, we along with the Saudi's are the worlds highest emitters. The Saudis are doing something unprecedented, making their oil reserves public. Australia is the world's largest coal distributor and doesn't even care to hide the fact. Over the years, the Saudis profited, and they are letting go. Australia has simply let Multinationals in, and unlike Norway, Qatar and other resource-rich nations made money? Why hasn't Australia? These other nations are also transitioning to renewables at a greater rate than we are and not trying to opt-out of the Paris Agreement like Americas has.

Can you get a more twisted public media campaign based on one man's personal opinion? As an influencer, Bolt is record failure. His only real-time in the sun was just before and after the election of the LNP Government in 2013 when Tony Abbott was his patron, and we all know how long that lasted. Bolt went down, yelling "but he'll change, he'll change. He did he was no longer leader. 

As a conservative Bolt generally has respect or should have it's regarded as the justest system of law available men on this planet, and it's the process that counts not the decision. Bolt railed against it since that process found him guilty. Then according to Bolt, the law was ideologically driven. Well it's financially driven that's for sure, and Bolt's legal team walked away from any further defence, and that's why Bolt spat the dummy. He wasn't going to spend his money on his defence, but he did expect News Corp to, and they didn't believe it was worth it.

Well, not so the case of George Pell he has the funding of the very wealthy top end of town who have allowed Pell the privilege to be trailed judged in every part of that system regarded as the world's best. Bolt hasn't spent any of his time witnessing it simply criticising it from the outside and deems his personal opinion is better than the whole British Justice System. He offers no alternative process other than "I walked in the footsteps of Pell's accuser" The kid is a liar, and Pell is innocent. He may as well exchange British justice for Gypsies crystal ball.

Pell's guilt and possible innocence were evaluated and based on years of investigation. Hours of courtroom proceedings, witnesses and evidence were brought by both sides, not just one to convince the juries. Mentions and 3 court trails of increasing seniority were conducted to see if an injustice has been done to Pell or the claimant. None found for Pell.

 Andrew Bolt and mega-media backing at enormous cost are playing judge and jury and that they are wiser than British law or anyone else. Their opinion is far greater than any independent legal process. The problem isn't just Bolt's opinion it's News Corp a mega-corporate giant at the top end of town that's backing, him and just as they are doing for Donald Trump. The idea of "separation of powers" between the Church, State, Corporate world and the Law are simply discarded by those with the wealth money and power.

 Bolt is a yo-yo when it comes analysing anything he's like a bent cop fixing data to prove what he already knows. From Invasion day the history of women in Australia hasn't been a noble one of equality and gentle many respect and any deviance exceptional. It wasn't so long ago we heard Bolt complaining about his role as the only breadwinner in his family. How difficult it was to bear the responsibility. Andrew Bolt offers no explanation for this event or why he is even posting it but it is a reminder of a similar one when he was filmed attacking two young men for having pranked him in Carlton. They threw glitter at him. He was never challenged by the police as to why he seemed to respond so violently with attempted GBH and got away with it. Moreso why he used it as publicity and encouraged similar forms of retaliatory violence from other right-wing thinkers. 
His victims certainly have remained hidden due to the fact that they feel they will be prosecuted for their misdemeanour glittering which will be blown out of proportion to Andrew Bolt's raging violence like the girl in this video. After all, George Colombaris was prosecuted for doing next to nothing a shove at a game of football at the abuse of his mother. That shove cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars. There something seriously incongruous here why did Andrew Bolt get away with it was never answered?

75 Palestinians Killed by Israeli Forces since October 1st

The shooting of a Palestinian youth in Hebron Wednesday by Israeli soldiers brought the number of Palestinians slain since October 1st to 75.

The Ministry of Health said earlier this week that 2355 Palestinians were shot with live rounds and rubber-coated steel bullets, including many who suffered fractures and bruises after being repeatedly beaten by soldiers and paramilitary settlers in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem.

The Ministry added that 1125 of the wounded Palestinians were shot with live rounds (732 of them in the West Bank), and 975 were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets (865 in the West Bank), and more than 5000 Palestinians suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation.

235 Palestinians were injured after being assaulted and beaten by soldiers and paramilitary settlers, and 20 suffered burns due to Israeli gas bombs and concussion grenades.

In the Gaza Strip, 393 Palestinians have been shot with live army fire, 110 with rubber-coated steel bullets, and dozens suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation.

The number of wounded children in the West Bank is 325; 165 were shot with live army fire, 108 with rubber-coated steel bullets, 19 were directly shot with gas bombs, 33 were beaten by the soldiers. In Gaza, 170 children were shot, most of them with live rounds.

On Friday, October 30, a Palestinian baby suffocated to death from Israeli tear gas in Bethlehem a day after Israeli forces tore through a Bethlehem neighborhood shouting "we will gas you all to death".

When a judge  and police try to base decisions on rationality they are wrong and the system has let us down.  Bolt's feelings are far more acute.

Should justice system be driven by rationality or paranoia? Should we think the worst of humanity or just do away with those we disagree? In what way is Bolt a humanist? They have hanged over 500 people there this year what are the odds that all those hangings were decided on rationalist and humanist grounds.
