  The Courier Mail and Deb Frecklington in Queensland area squealing that legislation is being put forward by the Palaszczuk Government is damaging free speech.
This legislation is based on recommendations from the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) which stated “that it is open to conclude that a large number of allegations received by the CCC in the lead up to local government elections are baseless and merely designed to effect electoral damage on political opponents”.
It means that if the media or other sources believe there are genuine cases of corruption that they must contact the CCC for proper investigation prior to splashing unfounded claims on the front page of newspapers designed to harm political opponents.
Newscorp is naturally unhappy by this news as it damages their core business of printing unfounded claims designed to harm Labor Governments. It is not an attack on democracy, but it does lessen the reach of the Liberal Party unofficial propaganda arm to muddy the reporting of political information for voters in Queensland. 

Guarantee their demand for free-speech isn't applicable in their personal environs and rules apply. Bolt certainly is a practioner of irresponsible inciteful and vilifying commentary.

Suspected whistleblowers raided in travel company scandal

Something has been turned upsidedown. Instead of Corman being investigated for his relationship with benefits from Helloworld those revealed their dirty little secret are being targeted as whistleblowers. How easily forgotten how this LNP government enabled the destructing of Peter Slipper over a $900 Cabcharge of which he was eventually found innocent. Administrative oversight at the time was granted to dozens of MPs including the PM Tony Abbott but none of the same was offered to Slipper. How times have changed since.

  

Victoria Police has launched a criminal investigation into two people it suspects are the whistleblowers who exposed how a travel company Helloworld gave free international flights to the family of Finance Minister Mathias Cormann. 

The information was leaked to The Age and the Herald in February and revealed how Senator Cormann and his family received free flights from Helloworld in 2017, months before the company won a $1 billion travel contract with Senator Cormann's own department.

Senator Cormann booked the family flights directly with Helloworld chief executive Andrew Burnes, who at the time was the Liberal Party's federal treasurer, but did not pay for them. After the story was published, Senator Cormann blamed an administrative oversight and paid $2780.82.
 Shadow Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus said it was "deeply disturbing that yet again, [suspected] whistleblowers appear to be the target of a police investigation and not those whose conduct has been exposed".

A judge will decide my fate, and as a "true believer" in the rule of law, I willingly submit myself to that fate. How could I not, as it is the very same rule of law from which I claim my unenviable but inevitable duty. Whatever they decide, I believe that I did my duty.

David McBride is a former military lawyer and captain in Britain's elite Special Air Service and the whistleblower at the centre of Australian Federal Police raids on the ABC's Sydney headquarters on Wednesday. He was charged in September last year with theft of Commonwealth property, namely war crimes investigation files, and three counts of breaching the Defence Act. He was also charged under old secrecy provisions in the Commonwealth Crimes Act. He is due to face court on June 13.

Republican lawmakers usually don't like tariffs. They're viewed as a tax on consumers and unwanted government intervention in free trade. But many Republicans, unwilling to buck Trump, were prepared to follow the president's lead and support 5 per cent tariffs on Mexico in his dispute over illegal immigration.

Plenty of Republicans, though, are resisting Trump's transformation. Those from agricultural, manufacturing and border states are particularly opposed to the tariffs on Mexico. Kansas Senator Pat Roberts called tariffs "a really awkward thing.

"And tariffs are like shattered glass. You never know where it's going to end."

Trump has backed down but wishes he had the power of the above Socialists. Mexico has stood up to Trump won't contribute to either his wall or support his inhumanity in the treatment of Asylum Seekers. In the meantime, Trump is on a slippery slide as he realises but denies he's the one punishing all American citizens apart from a very minority.
