Does this sound like an opinion or an order a demand from the top down and yes that's the structure that Tony Abbott provided. The policies he spoke of weren't what was put into practice he passed half the bills that the Turnbull government has but he did "fight for policies "as if he believed them" "seeming" but not being the leader of principle needed. As a consequence, Tony Abbott became a global joke and the most disliked leader Australia had seen because like Trump today he couldn't be trusted.

Bolt has never defined his values which he demands aren't even Australian but declares them Western, Christian and it seems White but in such vague and uncertain terms as to be useless. It's interesting isn't it Bolt expects other nations to be friends and trade with us and see us in a positive light yet reputation mean little or nothing to him. We are one of only 2 countries on the planet and the worst when it comes to carbon emissions per capita and what does Bolt think of the other 194 countries. Cutting global emissions by accelerating the switch to renewables speaks to cooperation something Bolt doesn't care about as reputation is meaningless however the reality is that together we just might near the tipping point where Australia's contribution is very worthwhile. Emissions don't drive the power price at all that's about as valid as Bolt's argument the planet is cooling. He doesn't run that anymore. The LNP fragmented the energy market privatized it and opened up the retail energy market politics predicted a diverse market would benefit consumers and it didn't, as clearly stated in the ACCC market report that said Coal-Fired Power was no longer the cheapest form of energy moving forward into the future. Why has the world turned to renewables if Bolt is right? As for the poor not being able to afford electricity Adani doesn't think so he bailing on his coal-fired plant in India and turned to solar. India has scrapped building any new coal-fired plants they too mustn't have read Andrew Bolt

Sea levels could rise an extra 60cm if emission reductions are delayed until 2035: study

A new study estimates sea levels could rise between 0.7 and 1.2 metres by 2300, but scientists warn delays in meeting Paris emissions targets could push them even higher.

Global sea levels will continue to rise until at least 2300 regardless of how much we reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, according to new research published today.

Key points:

• Sea levels are projected to rise between 0.7 and 1.2m above 2000 levels by 2300
• Delaying peak emissions between 2020-2035 results in 20cm rise for each 5-year period missed
• A 2C temperature increase this century could result in a sea-level rise of at least 1.5m

But for every five years until 2035 that we delay reaching net-zero carbon emissions, as committed to under the Paris agreement targets, sea levels will rise by about an extra 20 centimetres, the researchers found as part of the study published in Nature Communications.
They estimated average global sea levels would be between 0.7 and 1.2 metres above 2000 levels by 2300, depending on how quickly we can reduce our emissions.
Will Bolt have a kneejerk reaction to these predictions or will he avoid a response?

Bolt believes in plebiscites but he doesn't believe that National MP's should get the opinion of the constituents who they represent. Abbott who demanded the opinion of the Australian public when it came to marriage equality and openly criticized his sister's lifestyle is telling us MPs should shut up about Barnaby Joyce. The hypocrisy is magnified by Joyce's obstinate refusal to resign which 65% of Australians opted for. Does Bolt expect a plebiscite when after all he's such an avid poll watcher? If you add the 11% that haven't decided and split it that over 70% would be happy to see him go.

Barnaby Joyce is resigning as Deputy Prime Minister and Nationals leader after facing sustained pressure to quit following revelations of his affair with a former staffer.

 In a separate matter, Mr Joyce is also the subject of a sexual harassment claim received by the Nationals.
Mr Joyce explained his decision to quit the frontbench, saying there had to be some "clear air".
He said he would resign at a meeting of the Nationals in Canberra on Monday morning.
Mr Joyce said he would sit on the backbench and would not be resigning from parliament.
He informed the acting Prime Minister, Mathias Cormann, of his decision to stand down today.
Mr Joyce has not said who should replace him as leader and deputy prime minister.

Once the biggest conduit for leakers when Abbott was the leader of the Liberal Party he was the man now he's just a commentator who can't be trusted and so isn't it funny that here we find him complaining about the leakers to the media. The 17-year-old bitch dared complain about a drunken Joyce what a bitch. Or was it the media that it was slipped to that broke the rules that Bolt would have and regularly did break. Afterall he works for Murdoch's News Corp which spends it's time declaring everything "fake news" for PR sake, e.g to protect Trump.

Bolt today prefers a world of secrets because in that world Abbott's world he had some currency but today he's been reduced to an also-ran and that smarts. Joyce wasn't assassinated neither was Abbott but they did lose the respect of their own Party and Abbott does it over and over. Joyce was called the National's best retail figure Abbott never was. He was called the Party's best head kicker though.  He was regarded as just that as far back as when he was 18yrs old. Now that's change for you.

Abbott apparently is Bolt's spiritual leader and not a political body who just about every time he opens his mouth has proven to be constantly wrong. He blew the whistle on the Australian Economy did nothing and said he fixed it. He promised so many things before his election and reneged on them.

Bolt's argument 'for' Abbott against Immigration was we are wrong because the majority of other countries aren't doing it. and they know better. His stance against Climate Change, however, is the opposite and the majority of countries are wrong and Abbott stands alone and is wiser. He and Abbott once also argued that Wayne Swann was the world's worst treasurer when he saved us from the GFC and the majority of countries vote him to be the best. How is it Abbott and Bolt are out of step with everything and everyone most of the time?
What's amusing is even leading Conservatives like Peter Dutton have said Abbott was wrong and the Party room had debated it whereas Bolt believes he's the Party room. Has anyone ever noticed the difference between the Bolt Report and the Drum which is, in fact, a debate and which is a moderated panel of invitees merely present to make up a cheer squad for a singular opinion?
P.S Bolt looked as if he turned up after bashing someone very untidy with his drunkard's collar one over and one under his suit. What's that all about looking like an unmade bed?

But he says the media's narrow focus on negative anomalies can result in "systematically distorted" views of the world.
Speaking to the ABC's The World program, Mr Pinker gave his views on Donald Trump, distorted perceptions and the simple arithmetic that proves the world is better than ever before.

News media can 'systematically distort' perceptions

"If your impression of the world is driven by journalism, then as long as various evils haven't gone to zero there'll always be enough of them to fill the news. And if journalism isn't accompanied by a bit of historical context, that is not just what's bad now but how bad it was in the past, and statistical context, namely how many wars? How many terrorist attacks? What is the rate of homicide? Then our intuitions, since they're driven by images and narratives and anecdotes, can be systematically distorted by the news unless it's presented in historical and statistical context.

ABBOTT DECLARES WAR ON MORRISON

Dishonest debate Turnbull ministers, especially Scott Morrison, smashed Tony Abbott for saying immigration was too high, even though Morrison once agreed. They've turned a vital debate into a dishonest get-square, and goaded Abbott into war: "One thing I am not going to cop is gratuitous criticism from ministers who are only in government because I led them there."

Team is just a 4 letter word in a dictionary that has no meaning for either Abbott or Bolt. How long does Bolt think it would take his beloved Richmond to win a grand final with and Abbott in the team. Abbott was and always has been the Liberal's worst retail MP. He is simply lost without a war and the construction of false enemies and fictitious fears to fight. What Bolt calls a necessary debate is what one needs to have in the Party but Abbott needs the Party divided.

It's got to the stage he's happy to ensure it's loss for a chance once again in opposition to start a war a war that will remind him of past glory. Remember Abbott's was the invasion of refugee boats that were slowing down under Rudd, The war against terror that drove us to the Middle East not to win hearts and minds there but here. There we reigned terror. He wanted to war with Putin and send troops to Ukraine and he started the war against Muslims here and wants it to continue.

As for loyalty Abbott has none he'd sacrifice his mother for self-interest and personal glory. His sister, Cate McGregor, Peter Slipper etc have all been put to the sword of his ambition and Bolt is the same. Yes, the word team is just anagram of meat and anyone in these two guys way is dead.

So yes  Steve Pinker is worth quoting to remind us what Abbott is trying to do outside the Liberal Party with the help of conservative commentators is to revive the Cronulla riots. provide an impression that the world's most livable country is filled with disaster and as long as there are singular events to blow up and generalize from they will be guaranteed to be amplified by Andrew Bolt and the positives smothered mocked or ignored. However given our institutions and patterns of behaviour are driven by trends they can be systematically distorted by people like Bolt and Abbott unless placed in their social, historical and statistical context. Which Bolt rarely does if ever.

Does someone, for instance, wonder why Bolt doesn't mention why Immigration happens to have expanded so rapidly that the need for skilled Labour and 457 Visas were given a priority? Does he begin to mention increased GDP occurred at the benefit of Corporations whose profits exploded and the distribution of increased wealth didn't flow through to Labor? That government policies show no attempt to rectify the gap. Bolt hates context because context turns him and Abbott into laughing stocks.

THIS TODDLER WAS NOT RAPED BY COLONISATION

I criticised Greens MP Lidia Thorpe for opposing the removal of Aboriginal children. Even Marcia Langton savages her blame-shifting: "Here’s a form of denialism: the 2 year old child was [allegedly] raped by a 24 year old man during a period of alcohol fuelled violence in the community. His name was not Oppression. His name was not Colonisation."

The very point made by  Cognitive Scientist Steven Pinker that media commentators in the Murdoch stable can always find singular events to generalize from and deny social and historical trends that provide a better understanding of those events. Bolt, in fact, is better understood as a Dutchman rather than an Australian you certainly can take the Dutchman out of Alsmeer but you can't take Alsmeer out of Bolt. He's certainly not an independent thinker and retains that part of internalized social psychology that made his heritage from a place that victimised the Jews as well.

CATE NOW DROPS EVEN TURNBULL

Once Catherine McGregor thanked me for my support and pledged friendship; now that she's a Fairfax columnist I'm "tedious". Once she, praised Tony Abbott for his kindness; now he's a pariah. Two weeks ago she said Malcolm Turnbull was roaring back; today she admits he's "hopeless" and "daft".  It is a mistake to confuse the erratic with the frank.

Bolt and Tony Abbott's loyalties to Cate McGregor dissolved in much the same way they have with others. With Bolt, we have seen Miranda Devine go the same way. If you can't use them abuse them and move on. Abbott has a long list of once good friends thrown under the bus and once hated enemies used again Pauline Hanson just one jailed and publicly apologized to ready to be thrown under a bus yet again if need be. Cate McGregor Bolt would like to think has dropped Turnbull but all he's doing is projecting. McGregor is nothing like Bolt not in the least as superficial as Bolt is.
