How far has the Press come after 7 years? This would have been front page news back then. It would have been presented under the heading of Politics not Crime. Today it's an aside on the front page of the Independent. 

How is it Trump can break all the moral pacts and laws he wants sexual, legal and block all efforts to prevent being charged. He an insult the UK PM interfere in the rules and affairs of other Nations and remain untouched. Even Christ and Barabas were crucified for less than Trump, but America will still chase Julian Assange to his grave? Wiki Leaks published hacked Clinton emails and released information that favoured Trump yet he hasn't lifted his little finger to help him. That's the quality of this American President. (ODT)

After WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was arrested at the Ecuadorian embassy in London on Thursday, Donald Trump claimed not to know anything about WikiLeaks and that it's 'not his thing'. The US president frequently praised the organisation during the 2016 presidential campaign when WikiLeaks published emails stolen from Democratic National Convention servers and Hillary Clinton's campaign.

     The question about whether Trump’s love for the organisation has endured is in reference to a comment the president made at a 2016 campaign rally after WikiLeaks released the bounty of hacked Democratic emails. “Oh, we love WikiLeaks,” Trump said, praising the release of the stolen materials.
     It was only one of several occasions Trump commended WikiLeaks during the campaign. He mentioned it 141 times in the last month of the campaign alone as he sought to use the hacked emails to cast Hillary Clinton’s campaign in an unflattering light. “WikiLeaks is unbelievable,” he said at one rally.
     Such a fixture was “WikiLeaks” in Trump’s stump speeches that several supercuts have been made of him relishing the damage the organization did to his opponent.

     Mr Rush, 67, sued Rupert Murdoch's Nationwide News for defamation over two articles and a newsagent poster alleging the actor was involved in inappropriate behaviour towards an unnamed co-star during the 2015-16 production of King Lear.

     Murdoch Media brought Ms Norville reluctantly into court it seems having preferred not to cooperate with them in the original articles.

     There is no inherent tension between Sharia, human rights and the rule of law Religion is woven into the legal fabric of many post-colonial nations, with varying consequences for democracy and stability.
     After its 1948 founding, Israel debated the role of Jewish law in Israeli society. Ultimately, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and his allies opted for a mixed legal system that combined Jewish law with English common law.
     In Latin America, the Catholicism imposed by Spanish conquistadors underpins laws restricting abortion, divorce and gay rights.
     And throughout the 19th century, judges in the U.S. regularly invoked the legal maxim that “Christianity is part of the common law.” Legislators still routinely invoke their Christian faith when supporting or opposing a given law.
     Political extremism and human rights abuses that occur in those places are rarely understood as inherent flaws of these religions.
     When it comes to Muslim-majority countries, however, Sharia takes the blame for regressive laws – not the people who pass those policies in the name of religion.
     Fundamentalism and violence, in other words, are a post-colonial problem – not a religious inevitability.
