In an effort to stop the spread of fake news, legitimate stories may be suffering in the process.

 To stem the rising influence of fake news, some countries have made the creation and distribution of deliberately false information a crime.
Singapore is the latest country to have passed a law against fake news, joining others like Germany, Malaysia, France and Russia.
But using the law to fight the wave of fake news may not be the best approach. Human rights activists, legal experts and others fear these laws have the potential to be misused to stifle free speech, or unintentionally block legitimate online posts and websites.

Andrew Bolt has spent years at the forefront of what he seems to be apologising for and questioning on his blog site today in an effort for subs. However, these are only intro's to the articles of others that seem to make out that he was never a leading participant in making sexist and misogynistic calls against our PM Julia Gillard.
Bolt regularly made sarcastic remarks against Gillard and her partner and in some way was always dismissive of women he called "frightbats". Is he really defending himself with these intros? The number of times he dissed Bob Brown over the years suggests he's ironic? Is he saying he, Alan Jones and other douche bag jocks actually add to the public discourse in media when they play the individual so facetiously rather than any principle? It brought to mind when Bolt got his rocks off laughing at the very idea of a Sudanese Beauty Pageant on the IPA's radio podcast with his son.
Bolt has been one of the loudest voices heard using the term "Teen Gangs" exclusively for Sudanese  Australians and regularly ignoring the activities of white Australians misbehaving in public. We should all be suspicious when Andrew Bolt claims what he periodically does is suspiciously"unfair". When it comes to Andrew Bolt Tigers never change their stripes. But then again he's pointing to articles in the Herald Sun not written by him that he's forced to do for News Corp.(ODT)

As Australia's competition watchdog prepares to study the Murray-Darling Basin's $2 billion water trade, a trip up the river finds irrigators are worried about the market's "unintended" consequences.

Early this century, laws changed so that water could be traded separately to land.
The result allows anyone — corporate investors, superannuation funds, green groups, even celebrities — to buy and sell water.

"I think it set off with good intentions, but like any market, people work out how to bend the rules to take advantage of a system that was never meant to be like that, and certainly we're seeing that in this market in Victoria," he says.

"My biggest beef by miles is that non-irrigators can buy water and just hoard it, collect it and short the market of it.

 With kelpie Sam at his feet, he says there are issues with a lack of transparency about water trading, and farmers who can't keep up with rules that "change all the time".

"The amount of pressure this year from costs and water availability, just the mental pressure of being under so much pressure for so long, it's really starting to take its toll," Mr Gill says.
In a wet year, dairy farmers can pay as low as $40 per megalitre for water in northern Victoria.
Today, it is more likely to be $600.
During the last drought, it reached $1,100.

Ignoring the context of our Colonial history and the plight of Indigenous Australians today because of it Bolt suggests first Australians are and always have had equal opportunities the same that all Australians have today. That to say otherwise is real Black Racism because, for 200 years, opportunities have been there and are equal today. The only thing holding Aboriginals back is themselves and their inferior culture. In fact, Bolt even claims he's more Indigenous than Adam Goodes a greater right to Aboriginality than anyone younger than him today. That alone has made him a self-made laughing stock and idiot out of step with the majority of Australians who see the continuum of our history otherwise. Bolt is as aloof today as was the first white man that stepped of the boat and declared they alone discovered this uninhabited country first.

Bolt ignores the fact that what made him wealthy apart from the woman he married was the fact he inherited the fruits of his family's labour. Could get a mortgage, a job and equal pay. He wasn't banned from entering any place and even if he had been born into poverty being white wouldn't have been removed from his family as were the Indigenous "stolen" from theirs. Only to be abused lied to and treated as lesser beings which Bolt emphatically denies because it can't be seen in any written history of white men. The material wealth of the most impoverished immigrant was ensured the minute they landed in Australia because they were privy to opportunities of work, equal wages property loans and capital gains all of which the indigenous weren't and even the meagre slave offerings they did get called pay were government controlled and even those savings are stolen from them. All facts Bolt selectively removes from his Australian history.

Currently, there are 500 mining employees listed as working in the ACT where no mining is going on. What would Bolt say to 500 Indigenous Australians employed as lobbyists? He'd welcome it because he knows that's an economic and power impossibility.

Bolt can't even lie in bed straight let alone tell a story correctly. The ABC program was about the system of deregulation of water licencing previously in place to one that allowed water rights to be bought and sold on the free market has lent itself to rorting by privateers and stealing and preventing runoff into the river system that was once there. Not Bolt's argument that a single policy about Lake Alexandrina is the cause. 

The ABC also pointed out what all water scientists have pointed to and been ignored is there has never actually been a National water audit done, and along with water economists, they have all been ignored. Bolt trivialises the problem of systemic failure on the part of all governments into examining the "free- market " system that was put in place of regulated licencing. Why would he do that? Is it because LNP ministers might be shown to be corrupt and been a party to the flow of money to their foreign donors, mega-Corporations and friends with Cayman Islands bank accounts. Any scrutiny that might expose the reality of the Water Rights marketing system is fraught with danger to the rich and powerful, so it's better to deflect attention to a single policy about Lake Alexandrina and distract attention away. What would Andrew Bolt do without the ABC he wouldn't have a job, and that's a fact. It's no coincidence that Andrew Bolt is suggesting that our government is wasting billions on a scare, but it's not GREEN. ABC Four Corners ran a program in the free market system of privatised water rights that has been a total failure that has driven billions into the hands of corrupt corporate bodies and individuals who have nothing to do with the land, farming or the want of sustainability of the Murray Darling  Water Basin. The marketing of Water Rights as opposed to regulatory licencing has created farms that actually are in the business of preventing water returning to the MD system by creating massive dams and water-hungry inappropriate nut and cotton farms where there was once a diversity of food production. All to drive the price of water up provide capital gains paid for by us the taxpayers and the accompanying government buyback subsidies associated with a market system out of control. All against the advice from Water Scientists, Water Economists and un-unified data hundreds of researchers have collected over the years auditing the amount of water that hasn't flown back into the MD system and who have been universally ignored and not even been listened to. Is it any wonder Overseas corporations have entered a 'money for nothing' market along with other friends of Ministers with offices in the Cayman Islands have bought into this get rich scheme? That Andrew Bolt calls a Green Problem and has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Instead of supporting the free-market system that's given privatised unfettered access to Australia's major resource water.
Nobody mentions that water right can be bought from the Murray at discounted prices and sold back to the government at inflated prices to then buy the higher-priced rights on the Murrumbidgee. That alone seems a simple case of insider trading that any respectable stock exchange would outlaw surely? Yet it goes on unregulated. Andrew Bolt calling it a Greens problem certainly distracts and deflects attention away from the systemic issues the ABC Royal Commissions and other investigations have uncovered that certainly aren't in the interests of the considerable private interests involved who are making billions off Australia's taxpayers while all governments both State and Federal stand by ignoring the scam.
Bolt focuses on South Australia talks about science reports and cherry-picks one to argue South Australia and Green policies are the fault of the lack of water in the Murray Darling system during a 'drought'. The word 'drought actually means 'no water' Mr Bolt. The problem isn't a single policy.  The ABC program actually draws attention to something far greater a whole water scheme devised that runs counter the outcome desired with no interest auditing or monitoring or no unified scientific interest. The only benefit it seems has been the financial rorting of the system in what is called "a free-market".
Bolt's want is to blame the system's collapse on Lake Alexandrina and a  Green policy. His real intention it seems is to distract from the Four Corners Program and ride on its tail and to yet again tell us science is more harmful than politics and Conservative politics is really the politics of care. However all politicians Sate, and Federal alike have done nothing to the privatised system that so criminally regulates our water a National resource we all own and not just some of us.

Among the many problems with infrastructure schemes, two have stood out.
First, the measured cost of saving water through infrastructure schemes is two to three times as much as that of buying water on the open market.
Second, and more importantly, much of the supposed water savings are illusory. Much of the water “wasted” in irrigation systems is not lost to the environment. Most of the water leakage and seepage from irrigation channels eventually returns to rivers through groundwater systems. So “saving” this water through infrastructure efficiency doesn’t actually add anything more to environmental flows.
My 2012 analysis assumed a scientifically based effort to secure water savings at the lowest possible cost to the public. As the Four Corners report has shown, that assumption was massively over-optimistic. In reality, the scheme has been characterised by lax monitoring, cronyism and rorting.

There have been more murders in the name of this Christian god committed in Australia than by any other religion. So Bolt is right what inspires these " sane" Christians to bomb and kill  so many more people than Islamists have done? They too have bowed their heads and prayed while doing it?

 Self sacrifice and selflessness is and ideal generally ascribed to the young  selfishness is one generally adopted by men like Andrew Bolt who claim to be individualists but believe in Nationalism and the system and it's institutions. That seems not only contradictory, hypocritical but insane.  Neither come with a guarantee of  wisdom however the young will inherit and change what the likes of Bolt want to leave behind. To prevent that future change Bolt requires an end to Democracy and and adoption of some form of totalitarian state. He claims to be an "individualist" whose crazy?

 

PETER FITZSIMONS CAN'T COUNT

Peter FitzSimons makes stuff up: "And there really did seem like a chance that Pauline Hanson's One Nation would do well in the WA elections. But ... less than one in 20 voters in our largest state voted for her mob." Real figure? More than one in 12.

Bolt accuses Fitzsimons for making stuff up when he has been one of the few commentators of actually been found guilty of not being protected by Section 18D of the RDA. Guilty of lies and using tone with intent to vilify. Here he is applying Section 18D in the same way. Bolt rather than compare apples with apples reshapes the stats on the WA vote to ensure he and Fitzsimons aren't talking about the same thing. Bolt unlike 90% of commentators isn't talking about the WA election at all he's reduced it to the sections or parts of the election that Pauline Hanson participated in leaving aside the rest of the state. But then you have to remember Andrew Bolt also believes he was educated at Adelaide University when the University would deny that and guess what he didn't fail first year statistics either because he didn't do it. That's why he counts the way he does.
 

PRESS CLUB AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING BIAS

The Melbourne Press Club disgraces itself at its Quill Awards. Its Journalist of the Year is the ABC reporter  behind a dangerously biased report on children in detention, and its Gold Quill goes to an ABC report smearing Cardinal George Pell on the flimsiest "evidence" as a likely child abuser.   

 Professional Peer Groups  seem to disgust Andrew Bolt particularly those that pay him no attention He doesn't care about awards but links the SMH article that mistakenly mentions the show on which he's only a guest as having gained an award. The Nights with Steve Price Show. Yes when named as award winner Andrew Bolt was in fact never mentioned and here he is telling us the producer entered the show "against his instructions". The truth the producers never ask Bolt they don't consult with Bolt it's not his show so why should they. How do we know because while Price is away Bolt demanded equal billing as co-presenter with Miranda Devine and threatened to leave if that wasn't recognized publicly. He got neither the billing or the recognition and he hasn't left. So much for his tantrum. Yes Bolt hates the industry he's in for the very reason he claims he doesn't care about the lack of respect given him. It's why you will find this to be the longest post on his blog today. Because it's about himself and the profession that knows his name knows he's there at News Corp but generally doesn't give a fuck about his absence.

LEFT RAGE: FIRST BILL LEAK, NOW BARRY HUMPHRIES

First the Left hounded cartoonist Bill Leak to his grave when he broke with them and spoke the truth about child abuse in Aboriginal communities. And now some of the Left are turning on another genius they once thought their own - Barry Humphries, for wishing Friday's funeral service was for the Human Rights Commission instead. Read and laugh.

  Bill Leak may have been a nice guy but he did some tasteless cartoons stereotyping on racial grounds. Bolt claims he's an individualist doesn't believe in stereotyping and individuals ought to be treated as such. The more he declares this to be his principle the more of a hypocrite he shows himself to be in supporting Leak's stereotyping. Bolt is also an Australian Nationalist quite definite in who and what that means by this and for him it's very much a system of beliefs and institutions protected not by a democracy.

 

 

WARMIST DAMAGE: PAYING FOR DESAL WATER WE DON'T NEED

Global warming scare-mongering has cost us more than warming itself. The latest from the desal plant built because of the fake scare that warming would dry our dams: "Victorians will be paying for ­desalinated water every year even if dams are full, under a secret plan to introduce a new minimum order." Cost: up to $8 million a year.  

 Amazing we pay for a CFA which isn't always used we pay for Police that aren't always used but more so a defence force that is more often than not never going to be used. But water that's an issue to Andrew Bolt. An issue that has no logic for him or just political logic it would seem. Most Victorians no most Australians are thankful for their desal plants when we are a  growing population and not just the quantity but the quality of our water needs to be maintained. Bolt still is a swinger isn't he one day telling us no warming has occurred then saying okay it has but no human warming has occurred then okay human warming has occurred but not much. Basically he's tried to refute Global warming by referring local warming and when he's squeezed on that level he cries we can't afford it so stick with what we have got.

Well he's been wrong on coal. He's been wrong on price. He's been wrong on every aspect and he not an expert on any so what's he doing other than being paid to make a noise? 
 

HARTCHER BITES HAND OF TURNBULL

Peter Hartcher has been a quite reliable supporter of Malcolm Turnbull and was long the receptacle of Turnbull's leaks. But his savaging of Turnbull's $2 billion Snowy scheme seems pretty fair.

 This is not bolt's work all Bolt has added to this post is thanks to his drone Peter BH whose Bolt's back up when Bolt is work lite. Peter BH backs it up with the usual suspects from News Corp  Henderson & Kenny. These poor coal men have realised that Malcolm Turnbull has scrapped any idea of coal clean or dirty in Australia's energy mix.

" Here is what I don't get. Why spend $2 billion on a scheme that is actually a kind of battery, generating no extra electricity, rather than on a coal or gas-fired generator that does?" Bolt

No I guess Bolt doesn't understand the notion of a clean energy future and what that might mean for the next generation that does. Simple he doesn't think of them or the future.

Peter BH then segue ways into a paywall

Then from Gerarad  Henderson we get "It is the love affair some Australians have with renewables, along with the opposition of others to the base power provided by the production of coal, gas and uranium, that has brought about a situation where energy-rich Australia has an energy crisis." Never with an explanation why the boom in investment is occurring in the renewable energy market and not in coal and why our biggest producers like AGL and Origin are asking for a price to be put on Carbon. Bolt never talks about it and nor do other coal promoters. They aren't even praising Turnbull for being strident in his refusal on the matter.

Chris Kenny  "coal and gas have shut down because their continued operation is financially unviable..." Not according to AGL who sees itself in transition to renewable energy and keeps insisting on a Carbon Tax to drive investment in renewables. Why are the leaders in the industry rejecting everything the News Corp commentators are saying> who are the experts in the industry here Bolt, Henderson Kenny and Peter BH? How much of the their money is in Coal? One gets the feeling Bolt and company have no interest in the issue of energy at all but only the politics of the resource in as much as it will help the conservatives in the next 2.5 years. The are members of the flat earth society a society that has no horizon or at least doesn't care what's over it if their is one. That applies to Climate Change, Immigration and so many other things. It's the core of the 'me' principle and being the center of the universe rather than a part of it.

As the demand for dirty energy drops the price will rise and as the demand for clean increases the price will drop but it's dropping in accelerated fashion as we speak because the technology is improving faster than that for coal. Bolt is calling for a form of socialism demanding government intervention in energy being prevented in becoming user produced, controlled and fed back into the grid, really privatized and out of the hands of the corporate players.
