In an effort to stop the spread of fake news, legitimate stories may be suffering in the process.

 To stem the rising influence of fake news, some countries have made the creation and distribution of deliberately false information a crime.
Singapore is the latest country to have passed a law against fake news, joining others like Germany, Malaysia, France and Russia.
But using the law to fight the wave of fake news may not be the best approach. Human rights activists, legal experts and others fear these laws have the potential to be misused to stifle free speech, or unintentionally block legitimate online posts and websites.

Andrew Bolt has spent years at the forefront of what he seems to be apologising for and questioning on his blog site today in an effort for subs. However, these are only intro's to the articles of others that seem to make out that he was never a leading participant in making sexist and misogynistic calls against our PM Julia Gillard.
Bolt regularly made sarcastic remarks against Gillard and her partner and in some way was always dismissive of women he called "frightbats". Is he really defending himself with these intros? The number of times he dissed Bob Brown over the years suggests he's ironic? Is he saying he, Alan Jones and other douche bag jocks actually add to the public discourse in media when they play the individual so facetiously rather than any principle? It brought to mind when Bolt got his rocks off laughing at the very idea of a Sudanese Beauty Pageant on the IPA's radio podcast with his son.
Bolt has been one of the loudest voices heard using the term "Teen Gangs" exclusively for Sudanese  Australians and regularly ignoring the activities of white Australians misbehaving in public. We should all be suspicious when Andrew Bolt claims what he periodically does is suspiciously"unfair". When it comes to Andrew Bolt Tigers never change their stripes. Early this century, laws changed so that water could be traded separately to land.
The result allows anyone — corporate investors, superannuation funds, green groups, even celebrities — to buy and sell water.

"I think it set off with good intentions, but like any market, people work out how to bend the rules to take advantage of a system that was never meant to be like that, and certainly we're seeing that in this market in Victoria," he says.

"My biggest beef by miles is that non-irrigators can buy water and just hoard it, collect it and short the market of it.

 With kelpie Sam at his feet, he says there are issues with a lack of transparency about water trading, and farmers who can't keep up with rules that "change all the time".

"The amount of pressure this year from costs and water availability, just the mental pressure of being under so much pressure for so long, it's really starting to take its toll," Mr Gill says.
In a wet year, dairy farmers can pay as low as $40 per megalitre for water in northern Victoria.
Today, it is more likely to be $600.
During the last drought, it reached $1,100.

Obviously Bolt has little or nothing to write abour so he's repeating himself like a donkey on a carousel. So again we repeat Bolt's rarely spoken statement. Institutional Child Protective Bodies when handling cases get it right but as Bolt more than once has pointed out they also get it wrong and those errors aren't in their files until publicized.
Aboriginal communities also agree that protection services are needed. However statistics have shown there is a trend among Aborigines hand it's there poverty of culture that's to blame. Rather than a case to case approach being adopted in the past there has been one that developed into a strereotypical trend to remove Aboriginal Children  from their families simply because they were Aboriginal and Bolt denies this on the basis that no such admissions acn be found in the records just false accusations.
Bolt rarely raises the question as to why these institutions lied and abused the children in their care. The stock of trade were "children" and their income was government funds and private revenue. To function these welfare businesses needed their stock of children to put out to the community as indentured labor, as reasons for Christian Charity fund raising and the easist source of where to find stock was with Aboriginal communities who after all were regarded as Flora in this country not worthy of equal pay or equal opportunity. So yes like the private prison system in America profits on stolen African children the welfare system in Australia ran and profited on stolen Aboriginal children.
Institutional records don't show this. Just as the banking system doesn't show it was geared to misappropriate peoples funds. Basically "stolen funds" "stolen children"= "better bottom line".
If one adopted Bolt's approach to historical fact there would have been no such thing as sexual molestation of children by priests either because it's not on record.

Bolt doesn't deny that "mistakes may have been made" but denies that a systemic trend existed that in the main decisions to remove children and put them in protection weren't enough. He attributes the rate differenceof removals among Aborigines justified due to their poor Culture. Bolt points to that being a Culture of drugs, alcohol, idleness and lack of assimilation and blames Aborigines for this on themselves. He totally ignores the Western interface with with ensured their systemic lack of opportunity to be able to begin to integrate in the wider Australian community. When media and historians begin to point out that structured disadvantage of indigenous Australians has been among the worlds worst practce Bolt doesn't begin to even debate change but insists on more of the same treatment not on the basis of any one on one case studies but on a one glove fits all if you are Aborigine. The praiseworthy integrated Aborigines for him are the the exceptions and not the rule.

What people are complaining about is Bolt's attack on Aboriginality and his inability to relate it to 100 years of Colonialism followed by another 100 plus of systemic intervention rather than opportunity. Bolt forever  tells us Australians are colourless except when your Aboriginal, African, Muslim and many other categories that need to be sterotypically managed by supervising industries that tend to make more money  without the resultant improvement that has been deprived toFirst Australians. The above issue is one specific to colourless Australia and not just Indigenous Australia to say otherwise is to be racist and it has little or nothing to do with Aboriginal Culture.

One day Bolt just might say some thing that's intelligent after all he nearl 60. Abbott let loose his inner Golum and stuck his head up once again only to be slapped down not just by moderates  but Party Conservatives as well. Furthermore we didn't hear too many others coming to his defense other than of course his News Corp PR team. 
Bolt hasn't really said much about that as he does  Shorten's  Issues in Qld and Batman  Melbourne suggesting Shorten is a hypocrite because he doesn't address policy in Abbott's fashion, the one glove fits all approach. The way Abbott goes about declaring Immigration should be halved and CO2 restrictions lifted etc etc. Bolt calls that brilliant wise management and politics. Unfortunately Abbott's little more than a soundbyte searching for an ear and he's not having much success. Bolt is little more than a poor PR man trying to hold on to a hopeless client and also like Abbott struggling for ratings. 
At present both are having little success. Miners unemployment issues aren't just a consequence of green activity but largely the modernization and automation of mining industry determined to cut costs which this century seems to be the direction in which all Corporations are moving, to cut labour and so decrease costs. Bolt fails at every turn to even mention the labour boom globally. The shift to the renewable energy industries. Check the video on the US and the growth of labour despite the anti- green policies of Trump.

JOIN AGL'S DOTS TO HIGHER BILLS

Electricity supplier AGL boasts: "Starting in 2022 and ending by 2050, we are getting out of coal. We already run Australia’s largest solar and wind farms." AGL announces the catch: "AGL's residential customers in NSW will have to pay 16 per cent – or on average $300 – more for electricity in the next financial year." And more in SA.

 

  AGL's transition away from coal doesn't begin until 1922 but until then they are using that dirty stuff. AGL closing of the coal-fired power stations was factored into their accounting when those stations were first built an economic decision made some 25-30 years ago. The hike in pricing has come on the back of opportunistic pricing of gas to Asia and the contracts written. The privatised competition of the energy market and even more the opportunistic politics involved. Imagine Victoria is considering importing gas. Bolt is now crying crocodile tears for the Mining companies who are losing the battle of world opinion not to Green Politics but to the Free Market where Business, Finance and even the majority of politics has now turned to the idea that Clean Energy is, in fact, the world's cheapest and is the only way forward for jobs and economic growth and investment.
Andrew Bolt sounds more of a Socialist calling for the political control and management of the Energy market.

FINKEL SCHEME: REPLACING MAD WITH BAD

One thing that stands out is that the Power Producers, AGL,Origin and Eugenie, are all openly telling us they are transitioning away from coal. Business is for the transition and the stock market and Banks show investors do too.  The only ones left standing are the Mining Companies and the extreme Conservatives. Bolt insists that the government step in and change the direction of it's policies to stop the tide of divestment  from dirty energy and increase the regulation on clean. Government intervention for the few and not the many which they deny. Doesn't that make them Socialists a very large step towards a controlled market? Something the have always called Mad and Bad.

BANK ON WESTPAC TO CAVE TO GREEN JOB-WRECKERS

Westpac says it won't fund coal mines in new areas such Queensland’s Galilee basin, home of potentially six mines, including the giant Adani project. It's done this to buy off global warming protesters, who turned its 200th birthday party into a fiasco. Can we afford to have a powerful bank so gutless? So ready to sabotage our future?

Nobody in the private sector sees coal as an investment. AGL, Origin and Euginie have all said they are moving away from coal and priority is needed to encourage investment in renewable energy. 2) Employment is greater in the clean energy sector and is growing faster than the whole fossil fuel sector put together. 3) Bolt is like the tallow salesman screaming the benefits of candles over the the new fangled invention called electricity. Unlike Bolt they welcome monolingual Westernern idiots to go there and find out about theirs. Within Australia there are 73 differing cultures in which Islam is a religion along with others Yet Bolt lumps all those cultures into one which in his bigoted way attributes to Islam. Genital Mutilation is not exclusive to Islam Child Marriage is not exclusive to Islam Domestic violence is not exclusive to Islam. Islam is not a single religion either. SEX DISCRIMINATION COMMISSIONER SHOULD GET REAL

Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins demands discrimination: "Government contractors would be forced to employ a workforce consisting of at least 40 per cent women." Even if better men miss out. Meanwhile we import real discrimination:  "Police investigated 69 incidents of forced or underage marriage, ... up from 33 the previous year."

  Maybe it's time that Bolt's media presence was shared with a woman and his wages as well to show he's not the sexist others make him out to be and get real that he's not the expert he makes himself out to be. What does anybody think the chances of that being the case are. Notice I haven't said the woman need not be conservative or as unlikable as Bolt in opinion. However even that sort of comparison would throw a light on just what a sexist Bolt actually is and the sexist nature and culture of News Corp's global network that is currently being revealed and Bolt remains silent on. Why else is Bolt's focus on the SDC rather than the discrimination revealed in Murdoch's global organization. When even if found guilty men like O'Reilly walk away with a $25 mill payout and women are paid $13 mill and sign non disclosure agreements to make the abuse stop.
