One needs to assume what Bolt is saying is true as he offers no data or facts here. Is the Right in the US garnering more votes from men? I don't think so. For a start Republicans moderates and conservatives are deserting the GOP faster than ever seen in history. Only 55% of those polled at CPAC, the heart of conservative politics,  said they'd vote for Trump in 2024 or want him as the spearhead of the party. Trump however would tell you otherwis that he has 100% support because anybody who doesn't vote for him isn't a member of the shrinking party. 

Those who jumped ship, and there are millions voted either independently or as Democrats for Biden. There were 7 million more than voted for Trump, the most in recorded history. They weren't just women either. The increase wasn't based on gender alone but a generational and demographic change of thinking that demanded cultural change and it was visible in the traditionally conservative states like Georgia and Arizona. 

So then it was the Woke vs the Unconscious dead like Andrew Bolt, the bipartisan vs the partisan, the secular vs the sectarians that won. It was those "for cultural change" vs those against that won. Bolt's a duck trying to stamp out bush fires but whose trying to save the burning ducks like Bolt? It's not more and more men unless ofcourse you call the aging population all male. Generational change is happening and its been accelerated by social media. It's not radical but it's loud and it's facing resistance which is also so much more visible.    I guess the thing that struck me about Yo-yo Mo’s threat to sue Aly was the simple fact that Waleed was reporting something that had been widely reported in various sources years ago. When it was first reported, our PM told us that he didn’t comment on Cabinet discussions. Not so last night, where he assured us that he brought up concerns about Muslim immigration because he wanted to “address them”. He didn’t explain how he hoped to address them as Shadow Opposition Immigration minister. Maybe he planned to help promote unity by complaining about the taxpayer funding flights to the funeral services of asylum seekers who perished when the ship crashed on Christmas Island.
   Or perhaps he was trying to help last night when he assured us that there were over fifty people on Manus and Nauru who had “character” concerns. When asked how many of them were actually “rapists, murderers and pedophiles”, he was less clear, but it was clearly “significantly more than one”…
   Is three significantly more than one? It is 300% after all.
   Still, I’m not sure what the point is. Is he suggesting that a non-convicted pedophile with a life-threatening condition which couldn’t be treated on Nauru would be allowed to die because we couldn’t keep them under control if they came to Australia? I mean, George Pell was taken to hospital because he’s got the flu and he’s an actual convicted sex offender.
   Watching last night, I couldn’t help but think that this Waleed Aly interview will be called a “trainwreck” which – as I wrote a few weeks ago, trains actually have tracks which they go off; this mob in Canberra resemble a car where the fighting for the steering wheel has become so intense that the wheel itself has ended up in the boot.

They have made oceans and rivers unfishable, polluted land and made it uninhabitable and when predicted "accidents" do occur on a grand scale these companies simply turn their backs and walk away. The evidence is there. Simply look at Adani's track record in India and lack of promised opportunity created by his failing brand new coal-fired power plant in India he can't sell. Just ask what the effects and destruction of opportunity it has had on the locals.  If experience is evidence, to go by then the planet has had a world of short term gains promised but delivering only long term pain for people. That's the experience of Exxon, BP, Shell etc delivered.
If there are "some" philanthropic rich" good on them yes good on those billionaires that are turning their money around to restore the planet and not just invest in its destruction.
 Air, water, and land have been handed over to be privatized and it's been done irresponsibly hard lessons have been learned that the mythical "free market" doesn't deliver the best results promised don't. Besides, it's not so free when these corporations demand governments to intervene and become fascist for a day on behalf of private interests. Like Abbott's cry to building more coal-fired power plants allow more oil exploration in the Australian Bight etc.

Aunty is in the business of reporting and if they report an event as significant it doesn't mean it's the worst of it's kind as Bolt insists. If they report the government's attitude to a crisis  is the opposite of scientific opinion that too is reporting. Bolt finds facts and the reporting of them gets in the way of opinion commentary and his narrartives where facts are left to languish on the back bench.  Like Abbott which remains a fact. Australians it appears prefer a bit fact with their diet of spin.

To call Bolt a  skeptic is to pay someone who isn't a compliment. Bolt is an agnostic a doubter not a skeptic that's a term for those who believe in the scientific method. Why does Bolt regard journalists as having special privilege over and above other social broadcasters? He doesn't seem to rail against censorship laws  or freedoms denied pornographers. They don't have don't have Carte-blanche  broadcasting freedoms.  Why are journalists so special? Mind you Bolt doesn't even claim to be "a journalist". They deal in verifiable facts he doesn't just vilification.
